The Baldwin-Whitehall Educational Foundation awards several scholarships to deserving students in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. A committee reviews all applications and scores each submission based on an established set of criteria. Interested students can complete an online location at any time, and deadlines vary per scholarship. Recipients are recognized every May and we are honored to offer the following scholarships:
The James E. Lewis Science Scholarship James Lewis was a biologist who specialized in lepidoptery (butterflies/moths) and bees. The Baldwin High alum (class of 1962) went on to receive two degrees from the University of Miami. The James E. Lewis Science Scholarship Fund was established posthumously in March 2018, and is awarded annually to a student who intends to pursue a higher education degree in biology, botany, environmental sciences or a related science field. To be considered for this scholarship, a student must demonstrate a love of the natural world, be of good character, show kindness toward others and have a grade point average of at least 2.75. Baldwin High School Band Scholarship In partnership with the Baldwin High School Band, we are pleased to offer an annual scholarship to a graduating senior that has participated in musical ensembles and activities at BHS, as well as Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. Annual BWEF Scholarships Each year, we award scholarships to deserving Baldwin High School seniors who exhibit the qualities of pride, discipline, respect and commitment to the values inherent in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. The number of scholarships and the value of each varies from year to year. Students can apply for a scholarship at any time and will be contacted after the application period closes.
